Birthday Mayhem

We had a busy weekend! Mike's birthday was Saturday and Kathryn's birthday was Sunday. Mike's parents came to celebrate from Montana and we had a few get-togethers for Mike and Kathryn. Kathryn turned 9! It's hard to believe she's almost to double digits! Due to SNOW on her birthday, we had to cancel the bouncy castle that we had planned and improvised with arts and crafts. But the girls didn't care at all! They still had a ton of fun.
Kathryn is really into baseball right now and she got a new baseball bag for all her gear and a new helmet.
There were 5 or 6 girls here who of course were just smitten with Zachary and Tyler. Tyler was actually a bit shy, but Zachary was smitten right back. Look at this little ham - right in the middle of all these girls and LOVING the attention!

Matthew, Sandi and Irvin, Dave and Cherie (Mike's parents)
What a stud. So proud of himself wearing the bow on his chest.
And me too!
'I'll help!'
Why the child felt the need to put the bag on his head, I'm not sure. But it was cute.
Happy Birthdays Michael and Kathryn!

Reading Time

Gosh, I look at these pictures and I can't believe how big the boys are getting. So grown up! And Kathryn too. She was just this little tiny girl and now she's almost 9! Kathryn loves to read to the boys after their baths and tonight, each of them crawled into her lap as though posing so I had to grab the camera quick!

So good!

Ah yes, my night was sheer bliss. It doesn't get much better than this. Babysitter....road trip with my best friend....dinner out (which I got free. For some odd reason, I ordered a burger at Red Robin. Yes, a red meat burger. I have no idea what was happening there. I guess I was living on the edge. I ordered it very well done and when I took a bite, I swear I heard the cow moo. So, I got a new burned burger at no cost at all)....a Coors Light to drink during the concert (this too is very rare but I figured that since dinner was free, it freed up some money to have the beer)....wonderful music....not to mention that the singers weren't bad to look at....dessert after the concert....sheer bliss.
Our seats were fabulous! About 10 rows off the stage. Close enough to really oogle the boys.
Rascal Flatts and the band
Fireworks
Taylor Swift. She is 17 years old and writes all of her own music and is fantastic! I was really glad to get to see her.

The Big Day

Yes, the BIG DAY. Rascal Flatts is here! C'mon, that's what you were thinking too, right? The 'Big Day' of course means Rascal Flatts! Well, at least for me it does. This will be my first night out, and I mean, really out...no kids, not just a movie, but out of town...babysitter....in about 2 years. Well, more than that even. Since before I got pregnant. So yes, for me, its a Big Day. I got out my cowboy hat in anticipation and of course had to try it on the boys. Tyler, who as you can tell is way more enthralled by my eyelash curler, was not happy with me. Zachary on the other hand seemed to feel right at home in the hat!

Check back for photos of the Big Day event!

Into New Waters

Well, life with children is never dull, is it? Tyler got his cast off last week. What an experience! He really didn't like that too well, as the ENTIRE office could tell by his screams. He hated the saw. Anyway, now it's off and you'd think he'd be running around, happy as can be. NOPE! He can't walk at all! The tendons are so shortened that he can't really put his heel down to the ground so if he does attempt to walk, which is pretty much not at all, he can barely hop on his toes. So he just crawls. So, he will be starting Physical Therapy this week. PT with an 18 month old...that should be interesting!!!
AND, then that same little monkey decided to climb out of his crib!!! I heard something 'thud' and thought it was just his milk cup that he threw out, but then I heard him playing with the doorstop and went running, and sure enough, there he sat, on the floor, happy as can be. I don't think he's old enough for a big boy bed, so, all of you parents who have had this dilemma, what are your thoughts? I don't want him to get hurt by falling out, but I cannot imagine him actually staying in a toddler bed!
I have nothing much to report on Zachary. No news is good news! No broken legs, no climbing out of cribs....he's pretty status quo for right now and I'm enjoying that! I can only handle one major issue at a time anymore.
